Another precaution is to get a timer that will shut off the charger. This will prevent overcharging in the event that the charger’s overcharge protection is not functioning properly. Here’s what we’ve used. https://www.amazon.com/Teklectric-Curling-Straightener-Countdown-Conserve/dp/B01KKOJ42U

Shops that complain just are not open often enough, COVID or no COVID!

Comment on Bad Online Reviews Can Be Heartbreaking by Mike Jacoubowsky https://nbda.com/bad-online-reviews/#comment-12 Fri, 15 Nov 2019 21:52:16 +0000 https://0accd9675b.nxcli.io/2019-11-12-the-heartbreak-and-handling-of-a-bad-online-review/#comment-12 Word. It also cannot be emphasized enough that leaving bad reviews up without comment breeds more bad reviews. You’ll see a "piling on" mentality that can take a very long time to turn around.

Also, when you do screw up, and you own it, you gain customers. I’ve had so many people come in saying they chose our shop because of the way we responded to a bad review. Legit bad reviews, where we really did screw up. Sometimes you have to throw yourself under the bus and promise to do better.

If you’re a Trek dealer, get signed up for Listen360. You’ll get a real feeling for what your customers like (and don’t) and your game will improve dramatically if you stay on top of it.

Don’t think you can hide from the on-line community. You can’t. Embrace it.

One last thing. For those of us who take this stuff really personally (raising my hand on this), don’t read reviews in the evening. Ever. Shoot for a quiet time in the morning, with the mindset of fixing issues and making the world a bit better place. Much better than losing sleep over something at night.

Comment on Danger Ahead: The Risky Business of Building MTB Trails by Patrick Fetzer https://nbda.com/danger-ahead-the-risky-business-of-building-mtb-trails/#comment-11 Wed, 17 Apr 2019 17:47:37 +0000 https://0accd9675b.nxcli.io/2019-4-16-danger-ahead-the-risky-business-of-building-mtb-trails/#comment-11 Thanks for posting this up. I hope it gets read. At my shop we don’t contribute to or assist in any groups building illegal trails in our local parks. The parks are regularly disrupting and trying to disable illegal trails to restore the habitat to its original state…all while giving the riding public clear instructions on what we need to do to gain permission to build new trails. Of course, no one follows their instructions and a few groups, headed up by a few bike bike shops out of my area continue to come in and push the envelope.
Naturally the parks have stressed over and over that if this continues they have full ability and will seek to close the parks to mountain bikes. Yet, these shops’ wrecking crews continue to come into my turf and put all of our access at risk.
If anyone gets hurt on those illegal trails they aren’t going to track down the dude-bros who built it, they are going to sue the park and then you know what happens…I hope those guys read this and knock it off. Just because they ride my area doesn’t mean they are even CLOSE to being able to be a part of the fabric of the community here and have a clue as to how dangerous what they are doing is to our ability ride our parks.
